Intermediate Level Designer

Purpose of Job:

The Design Team is looking for a well-rounded production designer to compliment the current senior level team. As an intermediate level designer, you will bring a minimum 5 years experience in an advertising agency environment, to our fast-paced studio. This role is part production, part creative. You will navigate across various projects in both print and digital, across most channels: website, banner ads, CRM (emails), newspaper, magazine, Out-of-home, and motion graphics. You will report directly to the Manager of the Design team and work closely with Project Managers within the studio, as well as Account Managers from the business.  The work is almost exclusively automotive, so experience on an automotive account is desirable, but not mandatory.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Using typography and strong design aptitude to complete projects in print, digital and motion
  • Producing storyboards for online banner ads
  • Producing print-based magazine and newspaper inserts
  • Producing out-of-home digital billboards
  • Producing point-of-sale display materials, following supplied or producing die lines
  • Image manipulation and general retouching
  • Producing motion-graphics for online media
  • Creating wireframe workflows

Skills and Behaviour:

  • 5 years experience in a related studio and/or advertising agency environment
  • Adobe Creative Cloud – experience in the top core applications for graphic design
  • Adobe Photoshop – experience in image manipulation and storyboarding digital layouts
  • Adobe InDesign – experience in general page layout and POS materials
  • Adobe Illustrator – working experience for general level illustration
  • Adobe After Effects – working knowledge for general motion graphic online digital media
  • Adobe XD – working knowledge for general UX and UI wireframing
  • Typography – efficiency in typography strongly recommended
  • Microsoft Office – working experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Understanding and being able to navigate various brand guidelines to ensure projects are on brand
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Canada’s AODA and WCAG standards
  • Understanding of Google DoubleClick Digital Marketing workflow (Google Studio)
  • Interest in the automotive industry and general understanding of the automotive retail chain are good to have
