Associate Director, Data & Analytics

Purpose of Job: 

Reporting to the SVP of Media, you will work closely with the clients and accounts teams to scope out data and analytics projects and will be responsible for bringing them to life. You will be working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders to adopt process and provide data and analytics support.

We are looking for someone who lives and breathes Marketing Intelligence, Mar Tech and Ad Tech. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in Data and Analytics roles and is ready to advance their career by taking on a new challenge as the Insights and Analytics Director at a full-service in-house agency.

The role includes the management of the data and analytics team and engaging with respective agency counterparts, clients and external partners. You would be expected to be a source of expertise and point of escalation, ensuring quality control on team’s output including dashboards, models, reports, and other deliverables to clients and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide thought leadership around the clients’ data maturity and seek opportunities to advance their data capabilities, including automation, advanced dashboarding, media to sales attribution and customer insights
  • Contribute to the annual business plans with Scenario plans and projection modelling
  • Drive custom Analytics and Insights to clients: the data team works tightly with media planners and need to be able to proactively uncover insights from new trends using dashboard data
  • Lead data-backed decision making within the agency: As leader of the Insights & Analytics team, you will have to foster a culture of data-backed decision making by providing relevant, accurate and actionable data to the business leads
  • Own the reporting frameworks: Lead the strategy and design of the reporting platforms for Media, Brand Tracking & Marketing KPI Tracking
  • Evolve the Innocean’s data infrastructure: Our clients rely on our data-stack which comprises of Visualization, Automation and Cloud service tools. These tools require constant refinements and enhancements to provide business users with relevant and timely self-serve analytics

Day to Day

  • Collaborate with the media planning team to ensure they have the benchmark and goals data they need to plan towards delivering on marketing campaign objectives and business plan goals
  • Have an ability to see patterns and trends in large amounts of data and how it can contribute to overall business success
  • Keep key stakeholders including clients and account teams updated on projects via regular and ad-hoc status updates and meetings
  • Oversee the build and maintenance of client facing dashboard to ensure they consistently meet or exceed client expectations and lend support to day to day as needed
  • Manage, mentor, supervise and coach a team with various levels of knowledge across data. Understand team’s needs and help build strong relationships to encourage improved performance
  • Create and enforce workflow processes to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Develop best practices that improve the quality or efficiency of work.
  • Support the SVP of Media as needed for larger presentations, projects or pitches
  • Develop POVs, Presentations or other shareable collateral that improves the overall level of data and analytics education across internal and client teams

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong ability to thoroughly present data input and output verbally and visually
  • Able to communicate technical or complex subject matter in business terms
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to link the big picture with the details
  • Comprehensive understanding of metrics: Media (e.g. impression, GRP, CPV etc.), Measurement analytics, Quantitative business measures (LTV, ROI, Effectiveness, etc.), Statistics (Correlations, sample sizing, t-value VIF etc.).
  • Hands on experience with Tableau, Data Studio, any of the Microsoft BI Suite of Tools (PowerBI, PowerPivot, SSRS, etc.), SAS and data automation tools like Funnel, Supermetrics or Datorama.
  • Experience in Data modelling and SQL is strongly preferred – experience with advanced analytic techniques, such as multivariate regression analysis, predictive modelling, logistic regression, factor analysis, sales forecasting, response prediction, advertising effectiveness, consumer profiling, market mix and ROI measurement.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning, AI (Apache spark / Q / R, etc), and MS SQL
  • Skilled at setting and communicating priorities effectively; able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Skilled at removing barriers and acting with a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methods
  • Advanced people management and leadership skills
  • Impeccable analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An exceptional listener, able to comprehend what is said and probe for important details
  • Able to communicate technical or complex subject matter in business terms
  • 6+ years’ experience in Marketing/ Business Science, with experience in the area of Marketing Mix Analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree with strong analytical background, Economics, Statistics or related discipline preferred
  • Proven track record of dealing directly with clients is required.
