Driving Change One Child at a Time
Each year on August 21st, INNOCEAN Worldwide Canada members volunteer their time towards Kia’s Drive Change initiative – a day dedicated to inspiring change in our communities. This year, IWCa collaborated with Kia Canada, a proud partner of all three Canadian Major League Soccer teams, to make a difference in the lives of local children, with special soccer-themed events and a soccer equipment drive.
In Toronto’s Downsview Park, Toronto FC Forward #18, Jermain Defoe, surprised a group of children from the KickStart soccer program. Defoe recorded a short message promoting Kia’s Soccer Equipment Drive, which runs at participating Kia dealerships in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. He then gave the kids some pointers on the game, signed autographs, and posed for pictures – making an unforgettable impression.
Meanwhile, the Montreal Impact Football Club teamed up to offer a three-day soccer clinic for 60 children, giving them the opportunity to increase self-esteem, sportsmanship, and leadership skills. On the last day of the clinic, each youth received a complimentary pair of Adidas soccer cleats and tickets to attend a Montreal Impact game.
Members of the IWCa team participated in both events, helping to drive change by giving more kids the opportunity to participate in their favourite team sport, soccer.
